Description
Vetiver hydrosol is a botanical water obtained through the steam distillation of the roots of the vetiver grass (Chrysopogon zizanioides), also known as vetiver. It’s produced as a byproduct during the extraction of vetiver essential oil.
This hydrosol carries a lighter and more diluted version of the properties found in vetiver essential oil, featuring a grounding, earthy, and woody aroma along with some of the beneficial characteristics of the vetiver plant. Vetiver hydrosol has several potential uses:
- Skincare: It’s valued for its potentially soothing and toning properties, making it beneficial for various skin types. Vetiver hydrosol might be used as a facial mist or toner to help balance and rejuvenate the skin.
- Aromatherapy: Although less concentrated compared to the essential oil, vetiver hydrosol retains a subtle, earthy scent that’s considered grounding and calming. It can be used in aromatherapy to create a calming atmosphere or in personal care products for its fragrance.
- Emotional Well-being: Vetiver is often associated with feelings of stability and tranquility. The hydrosol might be used in holistic practices to support emotional balance and relaxation.
