Champaka hydrosol, also known as champaka water, is derived from the steam distillation process used to extract essential oil from the flowers of the champaca tree, scientifically known as Michelia champaca.

During the steam distillation process, where champaca flowers are steamed, two products are obtained: the essential oil and the hydrosol. Champaka hydrosol contains the water-soluble compounds from the champaca flowers, offering a delicate, sweet, and floral aroma that captures some aspects of the champaca’s fragrance, albeit in a lighter and less concentrated form compared to the essential oil.
