Sandalwood hydrosol, also known as sandalwood water, is a floral water produced during the steam distillation process used to extract sandalwood essential oil from the heartwood of sandalwood trees, primarily from species like Santalum album or Santalum spicatum.

When sandalwood wood chips or shavings are subjected to steam distillation, the aromatic compounds are carried over with the steam. Upon condensation, two products are formed: the essential oil and the hydrosol. Sandalwood hydrosol contains the water-soluble components from the sandalwood, offering a subtle, sweet, and woody fragrance reminiscent of sandalwood, though generally milder compared to the essential oil.

This floral water is often valued for its gentle aroma and potential skin-soothing properties. Sandalwood is reputed for its skin-nourishing and calming effects, and the hydrosol may retain some of these qualities.
